Years of photography from IWM Duxford
I spent many wonderful years living in Cambridge in the UK before moving to the US. In my time living there I took full advantage of its proximity to IWM Duxford. I would take myself off for as many of the 4x airshows they would host as I could and it’s where my love of airshow photography really took off. Starting with a lowly Panasonic Gf1 I certainly started with a difficult setup, then moving to an Olympus EM5 which was marginally better. On reflection, I believe this actually made me so much better at this than starting with something that was easy. It meant when I moved to a Nikon Df, then a D750 and now a D850 each move made things easier and at the same time the output being so much better.
I love the challenge of capturing great aircraft images and especially enjoy the challenge of prop aircraft and getting a shutter speed slow enough to blur the prop but have the aircraft in focus.
Below you will see a range of images including some that may be one of the last times the Avro Vulcan will ever fly…
